Homelessness Hurts Everyone!

Not every homeless person is sleeping on the sidewalk at night.  More often than not, they are sleeping in cars, garages, and other places where they blend in; become invisible.  But whether they are visible or invisible, the fact of their homelessness hurts them and their families and hurts their communities as well.

Substandard hand-made housing built in 2011 by unidentified homeless in the woods at Bradley Meadows, the site now known as Woodstock Commons

The Ulster County Continuum of Care exists to promote the goal of ending homelessness in Ulster County by building an effective centralized intake and assessment system, evaluating homeless data to determine the need to reduce homelessness, providing services that increase stabilization of individuals and families, monitoring progress of existing programs and services for homeless, and advocating for funding to promote decent, safe, affordable housing for all. Collectively, the group administrates $1.2-million annually to programs and services directed at meeting the needs of this population in crisis.
