The Lace Mill
Opening Reception: January 6th, 4-7pm
This exhibition highlights the Bon-Odori Dance Festivals for Peace, held between 2011-2017. This event is a response to the radiation attacks on Hiroshima and Nagasaki during the second World War, and also to the widespread usage of nuclear energy throughout the world. The photos reflect dancing and meditation practiced during “Obon,” an observance from August 13th to 15th in Japan of the Buddhist ritual of welcoming home ancestors and rekindling family ties. “Bon-Odori” is a dance festival held around that time within each community. It is a chance to reconnect with the spirits of ancestors and restore connections between members of the town.
Free and open to the public.
Guest parking available on South Manor St and Progress Avenue.
