Art Walk’s Zelda’s Happening interactive black-light body-painting percussive dance party is a multi-sensory event in a magical, glowing, environment fashioned from up-cycled materials. The public is invited to join musicians, artists, dancers and photographers for a vibrant celebration of our creativity and resilience – interact, paint or get painted with fluorescent body-paint, or just soak in the great vibes!
The Lace Mill ‘Workroom’ space will be designed by local artists, Sativa Haskell, who builds glowing plantlike forms from up-cycled materials and Zelda (aka Judith Z. Miller) who creates other-worldly, glowing ‘Alien Shaman’ self-portrait and nude photographs hand painted with fluorescents. Andrew Kaminski, whose works on canvas are spiritual and energetic, will also display a new piece in florescent paint created especially for the event. Together the artists will design a dynamic, luminous, environment, where the public will be part of the installation. Attendees are invited to Celebrate Art by BECOMING Art and to bring food and drinks to share.
Guest drummer/percussionist Bobby Sabella will lead the drum circle. Bobby is a studio/live performer who has been on the scene for 35 years working with the likes of John Patitucci, (Chick Corea), Bob Mayo (Peter Frampton),Tony Purrone (The Heath Brothers), Hugh McDonald (Bon Jovi) Andy Snitzer (The Rolling Stones), and Chip Taylor (Wild Thing, Angel of the Morning).
Other body-painters confirmed by press time include Tania Trowbridge, who is fascinated with the beauty in nature, photography, and the dynamics of the human form and is a professional Tattoo Artist/owner of Metamorphosis Tattoo in Kingston.
Zelda (aka Judith Z. Miller)
Zelda (aka Judith Z. Miller) is a multifaceted artist/producer who lives in an erotic, musical, spiritual universe. As a feminist Jew who studies shamanism, she is inspired by the beauty of nature and the guiding force of her intuition as she explores the themes of connection to the Earth, spirituality, sexuality and gender. She sculpts, draws, writes, performs, photographs, and is an ecstatic dancer/percussionist/healer. Currently Zelda is developing Que Será, Será, under an Individual Artist Commission from Arts Mid-Hudson. This multi-media one-person show chronicles the joys and challenges of navigating non-binary Queerness from a childhood in the 1950s to adulthood. Que Será, Será will premier at the Hudson Valley LGBTQ Center in Kingston in December. Zelda co-founded The Fine Line Actors Theatre in Washington DC and performed at such venues as Source, GALA Hispanic Theatre and the Kennedy Center in DC, in NYC at WOW Café Theatre and Dixon Place, at the Lace Mill and with the TMI Project in Kingston. She published in Inside Arts magazine, The Washington Post, and American Theatre magazine. Zelda currently resides at the Lace Mill artist residence in Kingston NY with her Great Dane “Z”.

About Citizen Action! NY
Citizen Action of New York is a grassroots membership organization taking on big issues that are at the center of transforming society by:
- Ensuring our children have a quality public education no matter their zip code
- Ending our current system of mass incarceration and establishing a new system of justice
- Ensuring quality affordable housing for all
- Fighting for guaranteed quality, affordable health care
- Taking big money out of politics by creating a fair elections system
- Aiming to dismantle the historic racist system by promoting racial justice
- Striving for a more progressive tax system to begin to end the runaway inequality in our state
We look for opportunities to accomplish big changes – not small, incremental reforms. We work to elect progressive candidates to office who are committed to these issues.
