Housing Opportunities for People with AIDS (HOPWA)
RUPCO administers two forms of the Housing Opportunities for People with Aids (HOPWA) Program in Ulster and Dutchess Counties.
Long Term
Our long-term assistance program provides rental assistance similar to that of our Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8) Program. Anyone who has an HIV/AIDS diagnosis and needs assistance with maintaining affordable housing may be eligible.

Short Term
Our short-term assistance program aids in the form of back rent, back mortgage payments, and back utility payments. This assistance helps those who are at risk of homelessness because of nonpayment of rent, mortgage, or termination of utilities due to unexpected expenses related to their HIV/AIDS diagnosis.
