Surviving Hurricane Ian to Section 8 – Maxine’s Journey from Florida to New York

July 7, 2023

From the bottom of our hearts we want to thank you, Maxine, for your kind words and for sharing your story with us. We’re so thankful you and your sister are doing well after everything you’ve experienced! 🙏💕

Ms. Maxine A. Moncrieffe

Few of you already know our story, but we’re survivors from Hurricane Ian in Florida. 6 months ago, we lost everything we owned & things were bleak. My sister & I struggled. We went through experiences that we’re still dealing with, that made me question the good within humanity. We’re happy to be alive, and having met all of you.

When the flood waters rushed in, I grabbed my housing paperwork and carried them everywhere we went. Never seeing or knowing the outcome. We not only received Section 8 from RUPCO, but we got a great apartment from Royal Gardens. If I wasn’t so exhausted, I’d cry, lol!

Sometimes, angels don’t appear with wings. They’re right here, doing everyday things, like each one of you. I can’t thank you all enough for the efforts & work you all put in, in helping my sister & me get stable residence. I’m extremely grateful.

In December 2022, I received The Sarabita Masters Lifetime Achievement Award, for helping others. I help others all the time, and never thought the day would come where those blessings would be here to greet me, through each of you. If any of you ever feel unappreciated, or that what you do doesn’t make a difference? Please remember my sister & me. You all helped change & save our lives. This will enable me to continue being able to pay it forward. That’s PRICELESS.

If you ever wish to take a look at those you helped without knowing, then please Google me or look at my links. Thanks again everyone & stay continually positive & blessed!
