Kingston, NY — 9/27/2013 — RUPCO will once again support the O+ Festival in Kingston by donating use of two floors of the Kirkland for use as a health care facility for artists. The agency, with a mission of creating homes, supporting people and improving communities, lends its name and facilities to the event which delivers health care services to artists/performers from throughout the region.
The O+ Festival is a three-day, community-run celebration of music and the arts. O+ participating artists exchange their contributions for health care services from art-loving doctors, dentists, and other wellness providers at the O+ Clinic. In short, it’s a grassroots, band-aid solution to inaccessible healthcare for the creative community. By programming the festival’s art and music events in various, venues (bars, restaurants, storefronts, even offices) throughout one neighborhood, O+ supports and unites local businesses and residents, artists, musicians and doctors, strengthening the fabric of a community to make it stronger, more sustainable, and more vibrant. If you don’t believe us, check out our O+ kick-off parade pictures. O+ was founded in 2010 in Kingston, NY and has now expanded to San Francisco, CA as well.
The O+ Festival is a celebration of art and music that creates a bridge to access health care for artists. O+ fosters complete physical, mental and social well-being by connecting artists directly with a coalition of health care providers and health resources, in a shared vision to nurture the individual and the community.
For more than 30 years RUPCO, a 501-c-3 not-for-profit agency, has led the region in creating and maintaining quality, sustainable housing and rental opportunities, inspired understanding and acceptance of affordable housing initiatives, fostered community development and revitalization and provided opportunity to people to improve their living standards.
In that time, RUPCO has established a successful track record as a leader in the creation and improvement of quality, sustainable housing, created strong partnerships locally and nationally and has maintained a fiscally healthy balance sheet allowing for flexibility and agility in providing services. Working with the O+ organizers is one of the many ways RUPCO helps in strengthening homes, communities and lives.
