Scheduled to commence in May 2024, the Shape Up & Shape the World initiative will assist 25 individuals experiencing homelessness in the City of Newburgh by providing them with free haircuts, professional attire, and comprehensive job readiness training to enhance the participants’ confidence and employability.

The program requires matching funds for each participating building project. The NYMS grant can reimburse up to 75% of the total eligible project costs for general building renovations up to a maximum of $50,000 per building, or up to $100,000 for building renovation projects involving direct assistance to a minimum of two residential units.
The required match may come from the building owner or other public funds. RUPCO will work with the City of Kingston and the County to determine if other potential sources of a match may decrease costs for the property owner (such as American Rescue Plan Act funds). However, program regulations require that at least 10% of the project cost come directly from the property/business owner.
For example, if you would like to use $50,000 in NYMS grant funds, then your total project costs should be $66,667, and you will need to contribute $16,667.
