RUPCO to Administer Program to Help Build Accessory Dwelling Units in Ulster, Orange, Columbia, And Sullivan Counties

Plus One ADU can provide grants to property owners to construct or rehab code-compliant Accessory Dwelling Units

Kingston, New York — In partnership with New York State Homes and Community Renewal, RUPCO is administering the Plus One ADU program in Ulster, Orange, Columbia and Sullivan Counties. This opportunity can assist low- to moderate-income property owners with grants of up to $112,500 to construct or rehab code-compliant Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs).

These ADUs, in various forms, have the potential to create long-term housing and bring a host of benefits. They can enable family members, including caregivers, to reside on the same property while having their own living spaces, provide housing for a hired caregiver, generate rental income for homeowners, and help older residents remain independent and “age in place.”

Applicants must meet all program requirements, including owning and occupying a residential unit in the county where the ADU will be located (vacation or second homes cannot be considered). In addition, the household gross income (pre-tax) from all sources must not exceed the chart below.
