Mike Kingsella is the Chief Executive Officer of Up for Growth, a national, cross-sector member network committed to solving the housing shortage and affordability crisis through data-driven research and evidence-based policy. Prior to forming Up for Growth, Mr. Kingsella founded and served as Executive Director of Oregon Smart Growth, where he helped lead advocacy for a series of housing production bills across the state.

“We must all recognize that from all perspectives – affordability, workforce, climate change/resiliency and racial inequity – our nation and our region must do a better job of planning and advocating for more housing production with intentionality,” said Kevin O’Connor, CEO of RUPCO. “Only through the involvement of all sectors – private, non-profit, and government – can we take on such a huge challenge. We’re thrilled to have Mike Kingsella speak on such a pressing topic.”

Furthermore, RUPCO is recognizing two local leaders with the “Community Leader Award.” The agency is honoring Harambee, a mid-Hudson valley coalition that supports and promotes the strength of our community through cultural and educational events that enrich the lives of youth and adults. Harambee is a force in Ulster County that has created programs to educate people on African Culture and Arts that also serves as stewards of the Pine Street African Burial and Grounds and Bringing the Light program to Kingston High School. In addition, RUPCO is honoring Dennis Doyle, Director of the Ulster County Planning Department. Mr. Doyle has served as Ulster County Planning Director since 2004.
